West Virginia Backpacking

We’ll be heading to the Dolly Sodds Wilderness in West Virginia for a 26.8 mile hike at the top of Allegheny Plateau. This area will expose you to a very diverse and unique landscape with sphagnum bogs, grassy meadows lined by spruce trees, wind-carved boulders, and beautiful mountain vistas. Due to the distance from home I would advise participants to take the day off on Friday to make the nine mile hike in to the first campsite. Please let Dave or Howie know if you have any questions or if you’re planning to join the trip. Families are welcome to attend but all hikers must be equipped and capable of carrying all of their food and gear for the entire weekend. A thorough hike plan will be emailed out soon to those who are planning to attend.
